The implementation of Oman Vision 2040 started since day one of launching it, and despite the financial, economic and health challenges, there are many existing programs and initiatives that have achieved tangible achievements, and the annual report of the vision includes all developments and efforts made in the national priorities, as well as statistics and data related to the vision indicators.

The vision is a compass for all sectors, and the labor market and employment are among the national priorities that receive great attention and continuous high-level guidance from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect him, who seeks to create a labor market that is attractive to talent, interactive and in line with demographic, economic, knowledge and technical changes. In addition, the National Employment Program was launched, seeking to find sustainable solutions for employment in all sectors in order to achieve economic and social growth and sustainable development.

The private sector is considered a partner in realizing the Vision, which is why the private sector, investment and international cooperation priority focused on enhancing competitiveness values, empowering a private sector that leads a competitive economy integrated with the global economy, and developing the business environment to promote economic development. This priority is being intensively pursued through two national programs: The National Program for Private Sector and Foreign Trade Development (Nazdaher) and the National Program for Economic Diversification (Tanwea’a).

The private sector is very broad and diverse, and by empowering it, it contributes to driving a balanced economic development, deepening the capital market, and projecting a unique economic identity that integrates with global production and service chains. The partnership and complementarity between small and medium enterprises embraced by large enterprises, as well as diversified exports and imports increase the ability to utilize Oman's international status and geographical location. The private sector also contributes to employment, replacing expatriate talent with Omani talent, and investing in national projects and programs.

International indicators do not necessarily reflect the impact on the ground; they are subject to international considerations that may not conform to local standards and procedures, but they are useful in enhancing Oman's competitive position with other countries, as investors take into account its position in international indicators. Therefore, there is a methodology and work mechanisms implemented in order to focus on improving Oman's ranking in international indicators.
